Why are there ads on HarborLightMedia.com?

The simple answer is "why not?"

The slightly more complex answer is as follows:

In my very occasional tracking of the traffic on my site, it's rarely spiked at more than a dozen or so hits in a week, and usually I know exactly who those people are. Recently, however, I've been getting over 1k hits per month, and after a little bit of investigating and a little bit of contemplation, I've decided it's probably because I briefly hosted a mirror of a technology association website I was implementing a search engine on. The site itself was never actually hosted on HarborLightMedia.com, but the search engine and results were tested here, and there is apparently a residual effect. Almost half of my hits appear to be coming from search engines and web crawlers (looking for keywords like "information technology" and the like) but most aren't, so on the off chance that a whole bunch of real humans are coming to the site, why not give them a chance to put a few cents in my pocket. Why not indeed. The only thing it costs me is a little neatness on the site, but in reality, how many sites do you visit these days that are unblemished by ads. It's like finding a stadium without a corporate sponsor -- it's possible but it's probably old and doesn't have enough bathrooms.

So that's the story. Click here to go back either to give me some work or just click a link and buy something. I'm sure whatever google chooses to put up there is fine, quality mechandise (but that's not a guarantee).

So, why are there ads on this page then? See above.
